Projects on Hold

Comments Off on Projects on Hold

I write this with a heavy heart. As much as I was ready to begin the auditions for Actors and Extras for TRCTS, the painful obviousness came to me over the past month, that the equipment that I possess, is not good enough quality to produce a decent looking film. Sure it’s a near-zero budget project, but that doesn’t mean I want anything less professional looking. It’s a long story, but in short, I’ll have to put my film projects on hold until I can afford to get better equipment. With hopes, it will be 2008 that I can take another stab at this, but for right now, I can’t afford to go and buy new and better equipment.

I am saving all the work everyone has done and will still use it when the time comes. I’ll keep all my contacts and again ask if everyone is still interested at that time. Thanks to each and every one of you who have done voice work and for everyone who was ready to make this film into a small piece of gold. The time will come, it’s just not now.

Also, I am debating on taking down the MySpace page as 1) it isn’t doing much good and 2) I’m not a big fan of MySpace anyway.

Again, thanks to everyone. I will make this film, and soon I hope.

Sincerely,

~ Denny

For now, I’m working on my son’s band website (at least that won’t cost me anything). Visit www.chriomusic.com!

Thanks to Val Jones

She’s filled in the final gap in our voice parts.  She did a good job, and it’s great to have her on board.

Now comes the tricky part, casting for the Actor and Extras.  Then the trailer and final production.  Everyone take a deep breath, this is all going to come down to perfect timing….

Welcome Brian Jordan to TRCTS!

Brian was the one to deliver Caller 10 in absolute perfection.  I know there’s yet to add background chatter, but I’m so very happy with his work!

That means there is only one voice actress line left.  Yes, that’s right!  We are all so close to getting ready to film!  Maybe we can even submit this baby for the next season of On The Lot!

Nikki is now our Caller 5 for TRCTS!  Thanks goes out to Nikki for her fine work as well as thanks to all who are involved with this movie.

I am very happy that things are still moving forward and I hope that we will be able to get things finished on schedule and within budget.

I’d also like to give a shout out to all that have contacted me to be auditioning for the actor, extras and parts for the Dumasaphobia project as well.

A Call to the Thinkers in the World

Got a good head on you? Do you like to take debate with the issues in our ever changing world? Then if you’ve got some time to spare, I’m looking for ideas from you! The Dumasaphobia project is underway. If you agree with it, tell me why. Tell me your feelings on how it can be helped. Ways that YOU would fight stupidity in our society. If you are really good, tell me some statistics you’ve found. (please send credible links to your data)

Are you a number cruncher? I could use someone like you. Someone good at compiling data into graphs and charts. Someone to prove that stupidity is on the rise. The reasons for it and so-forth.

Do you disagree with my philosophy? Do you feel that Dumasaphobia is unfounded rubbish? Tell me. I’ll be happy to take your feedback.

We’ve got our first actress ready to make her statement about how she suffers from Dumasaphobia. We need 9 more for doing that same part and a spokesperson.

Email me with your ideas, interests, discussions, or concerns.

I thought I’d share with all of you one of the better movies I’ve found on YouTube. It’s an important part of the inspiration behind my decision to start working in Independent Films.

A train, a homeless man and a mistaken identity….

Directed and narrated by Richard Calvach

The Serious Side of Dumasaphobia

Comments Off on The Serious Side of Dumasaphobia

As a person who works in customer support (tech support to be specific), I know how hard it is to deal with the daily idiots. In so much, that I make fun of them, get irritated with them, and as the years have passed, gotten to the point where they just frustrate me to the point of absolute anger. I don’t want them around me, I’m afraid I’ll be surrounded by them anywhere I go. Truth be told, I can point one out every few minutes. One day joking around with my wife (who shares many of my feelings on the subject), we came up with the term Dumasaphobia. {dŭm’ăs-ə-fō’bē-ə}

Though the more I think of it, the reality of the truth isn’t very far from the satire. There are literally thousands of stupid people on this planet. Do you seek the truth of it? Ironically, the show “Are you Smarter than a Fifth Grader” proves part of it. Granted, I’m sure they screen the contestants for their knowledge, or lack there of, to make entertaining television. Though it seems to me, it appeals to a large group that may not be smarter than a fifth grader, and a smaller group that are intelligent just to see how stupid people are. Even with Cheating from the shows’ “students”, there has yet to be a winner of the Grand Prize! (1 Million Dollars) One contestant blew it on the first question! As entertaining as this may be to America, the scariness of the truth is blatantly and painfully obvious…

A couple of weeks ago, this thought hit me. If schools are lowering the Standards of Education to have more students graduate, doesn’t that mean that we intend on having adults who are less capable of competent thought patterns? What if we apply that same philosophy to say…. Nursing. For a long time now, this country has had a hard time getting qualified nurses into positions with hospitals. Or for that fact, let’s lower the standards of education for Doctors. Wouldn’t you feel a bit intimidated to have any medical care from an overpriced, under educated medical person? How about lowering the standards of education for Lawyers? It’s bad enough we have innocent people in jail and criminals walking free. Just how much would the numbers increase in both aspects if we lower education standards for lawyers? Frankly, those thoughts contribute to my lack of a good nights sleep.

This as well as many other statements I will be making in the upcoming informational documentary of Dumasaphobia – the fear of stupid people. Frankly, even though it’s now a satire on all the “phobia’s” and “diseases” we have magically come up with over the past 10 years, I do see it as a legitimate fear, something that should affect people in an adverse way. We as a society have lacked in discipline due to the whole “spanking” thing in the past, and I know from personal experience, as well as watching other families, that “time-outs” never has really worked the way intended. That a lack of fear in reprisal, has contributed to this whole manifestation in idiocy.

I am certainly no genius, and I don’t expect anyone to be one. However, I think everyone should be smarter than a fifth grader…

Call Center – The Movie

Comments Off on Call Center – The Movie

In my trips around the internet, I find a lot of things. However, I am very surprised when I started working on the Ten Rules for Calling Tech Support script, that I didn’t run across this site/movie sooner. It’s freakin’ hilarious! For those of you who have ‘talked’ about the outsourced tech support issues over the past 5 or so years, this will make your day.

The movie is simply called Call Center. It’s a great short produced by Amyn Kaderali, Manish Goyal and Sunil Malhotra and done very well. It even received the following awards:

  • BEST COMEDY! – Riverside International Film Festival
  • “A Hilarious Spoof!” – SF Weekly
  • “A Must-See! Fantastic!” – Film Monthly
  • Golden Reel Nominee Best Short Film -VC Los Angeles Pacific Film Festival

It’s even listed in the Internet Movie Database! (hope I can do as good or perhaps even better – time will tell)

Also, keep an eye out for their next flick Kissing Cousins!
