I got it! I got it! {dances enthusiastically but looks more like a spastic monkey on crack} I got the coveted Rivendare’s Deathcharger! I’ve been running the Stratholme (Service Entrance) dungeon, almost every day, for a couple of months on 4 different characters. Beating up that miserable bastard Lord Aurius Rivendare. Today, my Lucky-Lock Kyllia dropped the incredibly hard to obtain mount!

Just to give you an idea, here’s some of the info quoted by another player…
Deathcharger is a black (as per its model skin description) skeletal warhorse mount, notorious for its incredibly low drop rate – perhaps the lowest drop rate of any epic item.
For one run of a given instance, the odds are higher that…
- Swift White Hawkstrider drops (61x more likely)
- Ashes of Al’ar drops (40x more likely)
- Swift Razzashi Raptor drops (28x more likely)
- Reins of the Raven Lord drops (23x more likely)
- Fiery Warhorse’s Reins drops (18x more likely)
- Swift Zulian Tiger drops (10x more likely)
- Baron’s Runeblade drops (3x more likely)
- You are audited by the IRS
- You will catch a baseball at a MLB game
- You die from slipping in a bathtub
- You have a life
If you’re in a group, divide the chance by five

The drop rate is now 1.0% (up from 0.02%) (source).
Although, I think the hardest mount to get these days is the Reins of the Time-Lost Proto-Drake. This is mostly due to cross server playing now. There’s generally 5 – 7 players hunting that 24 hours a day. I’m glad I managed to get that, not only once, but twice before the changes.
Yes, even packing boxes and getting ready for the upcoming move in two weeks, I still manage to have down time to collect things in Warcraft. My latest additions pushes me over 100 mounts in game and got me the sweet Blue Dragonhawk. All by finishing off some rep I never bothered with during Kittyclysm, er um Cataclysm. A whole 2 quests and I got the Brown Riding Camel and Tan Riding Camel from Ramkahen.

Grand total of mounts now is 102!
Just got Exhaulted with the Netherwing in World of Warcraft and got these six sweet ass rides!
That is not an invite for a Taxidermist to come and stuff me. I’m referring to my part time addiction, playing World of Warcraft and collecting mounts, pets and achievements. I’m just kicking ass and taking na… er mounts! I got the Swift White Hawkstrider from the Magisters’ Terrace yesterday, courtesy of my Gnome Mage. Today I managed to snag the Reins of Blue Proto-Drake from Utgarde Pinnacle using my Boomkin again. Sadly, only the Hawkstrider comes with an achievement. Hell, the day before that I snagged the Phoenix Hatchling from Magisters’ Terrace as well!

Now to decide what to hunt next….
Got this today! WOOT! Persistence pays off! (or boredom) Just another run for my goofy Boomkin and luck gave me Reins of the Raven Lord
A Purdy Birdy!

All I gotta say is Woot! Of all my toons in WoW, my main Druid Theodas, has had a Time-Lost Proto-Drake since my first year of playing the game. But being it’s such a hunted mount, I never really gave it much of a try on any of my other toons. My Mage Theodes is my engineer, and to date I have made over 20 Mechano-Hogs with him. Just gathering and selling low level mats time and again to regain the money to build new ones to either outfit my other toons, sell or give away.
I know I said I was pseudo-quitting WoW, I also said I was going back to play on the UK servers. While I have basically quit doing anything outside of Events such as the Midsummer Festival and continuing to make Mechano-Hogs. Though I still do these things because I’m still stuck paying for my US account until October due to that blasted Diablo III Free deal… Bah… Anyway, so just a few days ago, I was blindly flying in Storm Peaks as I was taking a tech call, I turned back to my screen to see that my notice for a Rare Elite had popped up, and when I read that it was the Time-Lost Proto-Drake, I actually got excited! Pummeled his scaly ass and got me a sweet mount for my Mage
Just in case it happens again out of happenstance, I’m now gathering mats on my Warlock
After many, many, many (did I mention many?) mindless Tol Barad daily quests… (on multiple characters no less….) Kyllia finally collected 200 Commendations and snagged herself the Drake of the West Wind!
Edit: September 8, 2011 – Theodas got his Drake of the West Wind today!
Oddly, my goals in WoW aren’t all that exciting these days. I guess it has a lot to do with my life being in a holding pattern, I’m not really all that focused on much else.
As it stands…
Theodas, while he was once my star character (and is my beloved internet name), he really doesn’t do much these days outside of random achievements and Tol Barad dailies. Sure I could change his primary to Resto, but honestly just not feeling it. I love being a caster, so Resto would work but I’m more of a DPS with Healer skills kind of druid. I kind of consider him the last of the Boomkins since Feral seems to be what everyone is jumping too on the DPS side of life.
Kyllia, is my new favorite character to play. However, she’s at a point where I need reliable party members to accomplish any serious dungeons and raids, so she’s also stuck doing random achievements and Tol Barad dailies to get all the mounts, then I’ll move her on to Fireland Dailies. She’s got OK gear and it’s time to bring her up. Again, in that holding pattern in life so I have her waiting for that to pass before I start adding people back into my guild (that has yet to get it’s new name….) and put her back on top.
Hythlodaeus, is my current time killer for playing in my favorite area, Northrend Dungeons. My little Engineering Gnome Mage. Can’t complain about being able to portal yourself and others to all major cities. His DPS is pretty damned good too! But he’s mostly a tinker toy character. Just because he’s so much fun for doing absolutely nothing
I’m gonna lock him down at level 80 for a long time to be able to do those dungeons when I feel the whim to do so. I’ve considered renaming him to Theodas, but since my current Theodas is somewhat accomplished, it would seem like a waste of a good druid. Well, Theodas used to be badass.
Yeah I’ve been slacking on the updates lately. Life has been pretty out of control for me.
As far as game achievements and travel methods go, Kyllia got her own Traveler’s Tundra Mammoth. It took a couple of months of heavy farming but managed it finally. I’m both excited and exhausted over the whole ordeal.
I’ve also made 3 other characters to play and have been having a good time with them. Angeliss is a Dwarf Resto Shaman (she kicks ass at healing!), Hythlodaeus my portal creating Gnome Frost Mage (who is also a handy little engineer!) and Profion my nut-job Dwarf Hunter (Huntard). Not sure why I play the hunter, but still he’s sort of fun to play anyway
They are all just about level 50 and I’m taking my sweet time with them so they can get all the rep and stuff they need that I missed with Kyllia and Theodas when I rushed them to 80 and 85 respectively. All chars are currently locked at their current levels so I can work on them. This way I have years of fun ahead of me rather than running back playing catch-up all the time.
As for the CastleRain Guild, I gave up. We managed to make level 10 through all of our ups and downs but I can’t lead a guild in WoW, it’s not like other games at all. I’m more of a player than a leader. Though it is my guild so I’m not terribly sure if I want to give it way (after they allow guild renaming) or if I want to keep it and move it to the new server I’m on. For the time being I’m trying to be nice and let the few members left move on at their own will, but eventually I’m going to have to punt the rest as I will not turn it over or anything while it still bears the CastleRain name.
Speaking of… I got real sick of playing on Dentarg and am moving my characters to the Duskwood server. The feel there is completely different than the Dentarg teenage paradise I’ve had to put up with. Sadly, this will take a total of 5 months as I can only afford to move 1 character at a time. Now to find a new guild on my new server that is Mature (adult), Casual (weekend raids only) and fun!
This update is between two weeks and a bit over a month late. Things in life get to where you just don’t feel like talking about it, I’ll post more on that as the story becomes more developed. Right now, I’ll get you set with the travel updates.
Theodas achieved the Traveler’s Tundra Mammoth about five weeks ago. That’s the Pimp Daddy Ride I’ve been wanting. That’s the one I mentioned before that has 2 Vendors and can carry a total of 3 players characters (including Theo that is).
Shortly after that though I got all wound up in playing my other character Kyllia. She’s locked at level 80 to get rep and such in Lich King territory and below. During which, she managed to achieve getting 52 Mounts in total. At 50, she gained number 51 as an award. The Albino Drake. As well as I’ve been working for her to get her own Traveler’s Tundra Mammoth.
During which time, as a side note or two, the guild has fluctuated a few times. Seems just when we get to the point where we can start raiding, the high levels leave because they either can’t wait for, or don’t wish to lead us into raids. Which sadly leaves us as a leveling guild for now. Thus, I have taken interest in other classes to play, so now I also have a Hunter Dwarf named Profion. A Dwarf Resto Shaman named Angeliss. And a Gnome Mage named Hythlodaeus. Since I am in no rush to get to end game, this should give me years of achievement whoring on many characters
Turns out there is an achievement for getting the X-53 Touring Rocket. Friends in Even Higher Places WOOT! Little fuzzy on how that manages as a “Feat of Strength”, but who gives a shit, Kyllia has one! Now Theodas wants one. Hint Hint Hint….
Still workin’ on the Traveler’s Tundra Mammoth… I will get it though! Damn the consequences!
